Amnesty International Magazine profiles Maathai

The fall issue of the Amnesty International Magazine featured an interview with Dr. Wangari M. Maathai, P’94, P’96, Sc.D.’94 who received an honorary degree from these Colleges in 1994.

She is the mother of two HWS graduates, Wanjira Maathai, WS ’94; and Muta Maathai, H’96; founder of the Green Belt Movement, received the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize, and now serves as Kenya’s assistant minister for the environment.
