Professor of education emeritus Edward “Butch” Cuony was profiled in a story about a celebration of his 92nd birthday that was included in the Monday, Nov. 26 issue of the Finger Lakes Times.
Organizers of the party had taken along an autographed football from the 1951 Geneva High School team, which Cuony had coached. That ball was presented to the current GHS principal, Bill Rotenberg, a 1987 graduate of Hobart College.
The newspaper story reviewed Cuony's work as a football and wrestling coach, and included the most recent recipients of a scholarship that honors him and his late wife, Gerry Cuony '33.
The coach taught in the education department at HWS from 1966 to 1981. He holds a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University, and his master's and doctorate from New York University.
Rotenberg, a political science major, was a member of Delta Chi fraternity.
