Thirty-five area residents are hard at work rehearsing next month's Geneva Theatre Guild production of Gypsy. The musical will be presented July 12, 13, and 14 at the Smith Opera House.
Genevan Stan Weaver, a familiar face to local audiences, will appear as Herbie. Weaver has appeared in a number of Guild productions, including On The Twentieth Century, Carousel, Silver Linings, Mame and Oliver. His recent non-musical roles have been in The Last Time I Saw Her, The Widower, Oedi and Poker Friends.
Other cast members include Nancy Petrie of Penn Yan as Mama Rose, Kaitlon Jensen of Phelps and Kelly Colopietro as the young Louise and her sister Baby June, Jennifer Walczak and Ehren Jennings as the older Louise and June, and Ethan Powell of Geneva as Tulsa.
Singing and dancing in supporting roles are Ryan Bailey, Anne Brown, Trevor Burrall, Bill Clark, Jessica Coon, Laura Feligno, Dave Garman, Renee Heitman, Laura Jakobovic, Allison Johnston, Charles King, Rowena McCoy, Brian McLaughlin and Emily Schuhle.
Completing the cast are Emily McAdoo, Kristin McGregor, Vanady Mitchell, Charlotte and Lilah Rahn-Lee, Jason Riley, Bridget Saracino, Tia Sheldon, Robert Stobie, Ciara Stout, Sarah Ten Eyck, Chris Tiefert, Caleb Weaver, Naomi Weinstock, and Roberta Whitwood.
Gypsy, which tells the story of Gypsy Rose Lee's rise to stardom, is directed by Christine Woodworth and Jessica Long. Cherry Rahn-Lee is the set designer and Angela Crisanti is the costume designer.
