Alumna Kalkstein heads fund for women in Vermont

Catherine Brown Kalkstein '92, the new director of The Vermont Women's Fund, was profiled in a story in the Thursday, Jan. 10 edition of the Times Argus, published in Barre-Montpelier, Vt.

The story explains that the fund is a component of the Vermont Community Foundation, and awards grants “that break down barriers to social and economic equality for women and girls.” The Fund has distributed $740,000 to 114 organizations in its first decade of existence.

She joins the Fund after five years as director of the Fairfield County (Conn.) Community Foundation Fund for Women and Girls.

At HWS, she was an individual studies major who studied off campus in Albuquerque, N.M. She earned a master of social work from Columbia University in 2001.
