Clinton Fearon, alumnus DeMelle coming to Ithaca

Jeff DeMelle '93, a bass guitar player now working with reggae artist Clinton Fearon, will present a concert Friday, Jan. 18 at Castaways in Ithaca. Doors open at 8 p.m.

DeMelle cast a reggae show, “Crucial Tracks,” while at HWS, where he was a sociology and English major. He and the rest of Fearon's Boogie Brown Band, based in Seattle, are heading east from Washington for MLK celebrations in Boston, Ithaca, New York City and Connecticut.

Appearing with them at Castaways will be special guests Food, Clothes and Shelter, featuring Kevin Kinsella; and an early acoustic set by Malang Diabate, master kora player.

DeMelle is the son of Walter E. “Skip” DeMelle Jr. '65, director of the library at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show; details are available by calling Castaways at (607) 272-1370. Check out the band's Web page and their MySpace page.
