Mary Herlihy Gearan an MLK contest judge

Mary Herlihy Gearan was photographed Saturday judging entries in the annual Martin Luther King Art and Poetry Contest at The Presbyterian Church in Geneva, and featured in the Sunday, Jan. 20 issue of the Finger Lakes Times.

She was one of those who judged poetry entries, which were divided into four categories by age.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Emmanuel College, and her law degree from the Evening Law School Program at George Washington University. She has worked for two members of the House of Representatives: Robert F. Drinan and Joseph Moakley, both Massachusetts Democrats. She also worked in the Office of the General Counsel at the Office of Personnel Management in Washington; and for the Michael S. Dukakis presidential campaign. She is a former vice president at the Wexler Group, a government relations firm in Washington, D.C.
