Returning to campus as the next Professional in Residence on Monday, April 7, is neurologist Carol Pappas ’71. She will give a talk titled, “A Doctor’s Most Excellent Adventure,” in which she will discuss how her liberal arts degree has helped her excel in medicine and in working with patients.
Pappas was a star both in and out of the classroom at HWS. She was a biology major who played hockey and volleyball, was named to the dean’s list and graduated cum laude.
After graduating from William Smith College, she received her doctorate from the SUNY Health Science Center at College of Medicine in Syracuse. She has 27 years of experience practicing medicine and is an expert in cases involving Parkinson’s disease. She is currently in private practice in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Her talk will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Trinity 305; any interested student may attend. For anyone who wishes to pursue a career in medicine, networking with this Professional in Residence would be especially advantageous. She will be available the next day, Tuesday, April 8, to meet individually with students and offer more personalized advice. These appointments need to be made in advance, which can be done at the Salisbury Center for Career Services.
