Geneva, NY — Hobart and William Smith Colleges President Mark D. Gearan will deliver an address titled “Building a Legacy of Public Service for the New Millennium,” as part of the Gannett Lecture Series on Citizenship in the New Millennium, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, in the Webb Auditorium on the campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology. The public is invited to attend.
Gearan came to Hobart and William Smith last fall after holding senior posts in government, most recently as director of the Peace Corps. Lee Quinby, the Caroline Werner Gannett Professor of the Humanities at RIT, organizer of the event, and a member of the HWS faculty on leave to RIT, was pleased that Gearan would be participating in the Gannett series.
“Mark Gearan's background in public service will inform the conversation we are having at RIT this year about citizenship and globalization,” said Quinby. “It has been exciting to watch Mark expand the vision in this area at the Colleges and I'm eager to hear how he thinks service will enhance our lives in the next century.”
