GENEVA, N.Y.-David Arens, the former U.S. marketing director of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), will discuss forest certification, eco-labeling, and the consumer's uncertain role in the global rise of sustainable forestry at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 26, in the Geneva Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library on the Hobart and William Smith campus.
Arens is also a principal of ForestWorld, a Vermont consulting firm that specializes in the marketing of sustainable forest products. Sustainable forestry strives to maintain the productivity of natural forests and protect wildlife and watersheds while, at the same time, allow trees to be harvested. Advocates of the leading forest certification program, the FSC, have as vigorously asserted that marketing sustainably-harvested forest products is essential for the success of its conservation efforts.
This event is free and open to the public.
