GENEVA, NY-An art show featuring the contemporary paintings of six Central New York artists will open at Hobart and William Smith next week. These six artist exhibit their work nationally and HWS is proud to have their combined works presented on campus. The show, “Concurrence: New Paintings by Six Artists,” will open on Monday, March 19, at the Houghton House Gallery. An artists' reception will be held from 7 until 9 p.m. on Friday, March 30.
The show features more than 25 paintings and presents a dynamic range of approaches to contemporary painting. The artists include Brian Elder, a professor of art at SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College; Jill Gusso, an art professor at the University of Rochester; Carol Kinne and Lynette Stephenson, professors of art at Colgate University; David Schirm, a professor of art at the University of Buffalo; and Warren Lamboy, a Geneva artist who works at Cornell's Experiment Station.
“Concurrence” will be on display through Friday, April 20. The show and the reception are free and open to the public. The Houghton House Gallery is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
