HWS Ski Club Qualifies for Regional Competition

Geneva, NY—The men's division of the Hobart and William Smith ski club qualified for regional competition in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship of the United States Collegiate Snowsport Association, held the last weekend in February in Snowshoe, W.Va.. The division encompasses the New Jersey, Mid-East, Allegheny, and Southeastern regions. The Ski Club men finished in sixth place overall for the weekend.

In the giant slalom the men finished seventh. Chris Roffe, a sophomore from Williamson, N.Y., finished 15, Graham Chapek, a first-year from Underhill Center, Vt., finished 29, and Keith Barile, a senior from Spring Valley, N.Y., finished 33. In the slalom, the men finished fourth, Chris Roffe finished fifth, Keith Barile seventh, and Nate Breighner, a sophomore from Harbor Springs, Mich., and Graham Chapek were close behind.

Ski Club is one of more than 40 clubs at HWS, and provides novice and advanced skiers the opportunity to experience ski training and competition.
