Geneva, N.Y.—”Obeying the Law, Violating the Norm: Feminism in the Church and Military” will be the next in the spring lecture series hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges' Fisher Center for the Study of Women and Men. Mary Katzenstein will offer her presentation at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, in the Geneva Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library, on Pulteney Street, on the HWS campus. A morning seminar discussion will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, in Room 212, Demarest Hall.
Katzenstein is a professor of government at Cornell University and has been published on women's movements in India, the United States, and Europe. She has written or co-edited Beyond Zero Tolerance: Discrimination and the Culture of the U.S. Military, Faithful and Fearless: Moving Feminist Protest Inside the Church and Military, India's Preferential Policies: Migrants, the Middle Classes and Ethnic Equality, and Ethnicity and Equality: The Shiv Sena Party and Preferential Policies in Bombay.
