Geneva, NY — Nearly 100 local students have attended Hobart and William Smith Colleges with financial assistance from The Geneva Scholarship Associates (GSA). Founded in 1968, the association offers scholarship funds to any Geneva or DeSales High School student who qualify for admission to the Colleges and for financial aid. Ninety-four percent of GSA scholars have completed their degrees at Hobart and William Smith.
Local students may meet GSA representatives at Geneva High School's College Night Thurs., Mar. 12.
“We are very proud to be able to assist local students in receiving the top quality education that Hobart and William Smith Colleges offer,” noted Gary Teague, president of the GSA board of directors. “And we can offer these funds largely because of the generosity of local families and business.”
Last year, more than 300 individuals, businesses, and organizations contributed $20,000 for GSA scholarships. This year, Kelly Cecere, DeSales '84 and William Smith '88, and Francine D'Amico, Geneva High '76 and William Smith '80, will co-chair the fund drive. For more information contact D'Amico at 781-7012 or Teague at 789-2732.
GSA will hold it annual membership meeting Tues., Mar. 31, in the Common Room of the Scandling Center on Pulteney Street. Community members interested in GSA may attend.
