GENEVA, NY — Hobart and William Smith Colleges are pleased to announce the appointment of Lorinda Weinstock to the newly created position of Hillel Program Professional. The position was created to help meet the needs of Jewish students on our campus with funds solicited from from alumni/ae, faculty, administrators, and friends of the Colleges by students.
The Hillel Program Professional position is part-time, approximately 40 hours per month during the academic year. Weinstock’s responsibilities will include empowerment of the current Hillel student group; engagement with all Jewish students, faculty, and staff; and programming support for club and campus activities.
Weinstock is no stranger to the Hobart and William Smith community. For the past 11 years, she has worked with students as a facilitator in the Hebrew Self-Instructional Language Program. She holds a master’s degree in Hebrew culture from New York University and has a long history of leadership experience in Temple Beth-El and the wider Geneva community.
Some of Weinstock’s first activities begin during Parents Weekend, October 23 through 25. Shabbat will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, in the Blue Room of the Scandling Center, and at 10 a.m. on Sunday, a Lox and Bagel Brunch will be held in the Comstock Living Room. Weinstock says she looks forward to the events, as they will aid her in getting better acquainted with the students and their families.
Lesley M. Adams, the chaplain of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, encourages the entire community to join her in welcoming Lorinda Weinstock to her new position. “Lorinda brings a wealth of experience, community connections, and personal concern which make her ideal for this new position,” Adams says.
Weinstock can be reached at the Hillel Campus Office, located in the undercroft of the chapel, 315: 781-3385.
