Mind’s Eye Art Exhibit Premiers

Geneva, NY – Nicholas H. Ruth, an assistant professor of art at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, will be exhibiting new paintings, drawings, and prints in his show titled, “The Mind's Eye,” at Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars in Lodi. The exhibit, with an opening reception from 5:45 until 7:30 p.m. on December 5, will showcase Ruth's current investigations into color, pattern, and the illusion of space. Lamoreaux Landing is located at 9224 Route 414.

In conjunction with the show, Ruth will also be offering, “All About Art,” a hands-on art appreciation program for kids ages 13-17, from 10 a.m. until noon on December 5, at Lamoreaux Landing. “All About Art” is designed to give kids an opportunity to learn about and experiment with ways of making abstract art through discussion of specific works in the show, a look at the work of other artists, and the making of abstract paintings. The program is free, but space is limited, so call 607: 582-6535 to reserve a spot.

Ruth lives in Lodi, N.Y., and maintains a studio in Interlaken in addition to teaching at the Colleges. He exhibits both locally and nationally. Ruth can be reached at the Colleges at 315: 781-3493 or at home at 607: 582-6535.

Both the exhibit and “All About Art” are supported in part by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, administered locally by Finger Lakes Arts Grants.
