GENEVA, NY – Samantha Veeder, the current associate director of financial aid, will assume the position of director, beginning January 1, 1999.
Veeder joined Hobart and William Smith Colleges three years ago coming from Keuka College, where she served as the director of financial aid.
Don W. Emmons, the dean of admissions and financial aid at Hobart and William Smith, is confident in Veeder’s abilities and welcomes her to the new post.
“Sam’s technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills form an appropriate mix to provide the very highest level of leadership required in this critically important administrative area,” Emmons says.
“I am excited about working with Sam in this new capacity and I am confident the rest of our community will share in the benefit of her leadership,” he adds.
Bob Freeman, the current director, who is retiring after more than 25 years of directing the Office of Financial Aid, will remain in the office as a senior associate director to ensure a smooth transition.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges are two private, coordinate institutions of higher learning in the liberal arts located along the western shore of Seneca Lake in Geneva, New York. Hobart College for men was founded in 1822 and enrolls 870 students. William Smith College for women was founded in 1908 and currently enrolls 966 students. The coordinate system allows the two colleges to share faculty and facilities and provide coeducational classes. However, each college awards its own degrees, has its own dean and admissions office, and maintains its own student government and athletic programs.
