Colleges Name New Sports Information Director

January 21, 1999

Geneva, NY — Geneva native Ken DeBolt has been named director of sports information at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

As director, DeBolt will plan and manage all aspects of the 21 varsity sports offered by the athletics departments of the two colleges, including general programs, booster and honorary organizations, and events. He will oversee all media relations and publications related to sports, as well as handle game coverage. The position reports to the Office of College Relations.

DeBolt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Dayton, where he majored in sports management with a minor in journalism. He served as an intern in the Hobart athletics department during the summer of 1995 and as the sports information assistant from January to June, 1996, before accepting the position as sports information director at Roanoke College in Salem, Va. At Roanoke he directed media relations for 18 intercollegiate athletic teams, produced all publications and the web page for the athletics department, and coached the club baseball team. He also wrote sports news for the Roanoke Times, covering local high school football.

DeBolt replaces Eric Reuscher, now editor of the Chronicle-Express in Penn Yan.
