Geneva, NY — The Hobart and William Smith Colleges Chorale, under the direction of Robert Cowles, will perform two concerts at home after returning from its annual spring tour, this year spent in New York City. The performances will be on Wednesday, May 19, and Saturday, May 22 in St. John's Chapel on the HWS campus. Both concerts are free, open to the public, and begin at 8 p.m.
The forty-one voice ensemble, fresh off production of its first compact disc last spring, will perform a balance of repertoire by male and female composers, from antiquity through the present day. The Chorale will perform works by Hildegard von Bingen, Clement Janequin, Claudio Monteverdi, J.S. Bach, Fanny Hensel, Sir Edward Elgar, Amy Beach, Charles Ives, and Australian composer Sarah Hopkins, folk arrangements by Alice Parker, and more.
The twenty-voice Cantori will perform a newly commissioned work by Minnesota composer Carol Barnett.
