GENEVA, NY-Geneva Concerts, Inc will bring Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra to the Smith Opera House, 82 Seneca St. in Geneva, at 8:15 p.m. on December 1.
Because of Hobart and William Smith Colleges' continuing subscription to Geneva Concerts, Inc., students from the Colleges who wish to attend the concert may do so for free with ID; adult tickets are $20.
Conductor Peter Bay and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by guest horn soloist David Jolley. Jolley has been acclaimed as one of his generation's most notable horn players. The New York Times described him as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician of “remarkable virtuosity,” and Gramophone Magazine has hailed him as a “soloist second to none.”
The program will include “Taras Bulba” by Janacek, “Villanelle for Horn and Orchestra” by Dukas, “Concerto No. 2 in Eb major for Horn and Orchestra, K. 417” by Mozart, and “Suite from Romeo and Juliet” by Prokofiev.
