Student Art Unveiled

May 12, 1999 Geneva, NY — Hobart senior Jonas B. R. Wood of Weston, Massachusetts, spent last term etching and painting portraits of his immediate family. His favorite is “Israel,” a 3-foot-by-4-foot oil portrait of his grandfather Dr. Israel J. Rosefsky from Binghamton, a retired physician. “Israel” is one of dozens of student works to be unveiled at the opening reception of the HWS Student Art Show, which will held from 7 until 9 p.m. on Friday, May 28, in the Houghton House Gallery on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus.

The art show features paintings, sculptures, photo silk screens, architecture designs, digital imaging, photographs, and more. Refreshments will be served and live acoustic music will be played during the reception. The show is free and will run through June 14. The public is invited.

Houghton House Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The gallery can be reached at 315: 781-3487.
