Hobart and William Smith Community Aids Tornado Victims

January 7, 2000 Geneva, NY – Six Marriott employees, who work for Hobart and William Smith Colleges' Buildings and Grounds Department, left Wednesday for Owensboro, Ky., to aid the staff at Kentucky Wesleyan University. The University was devastated by a tornado that swept through the Midwest on Monday. The staff traveled to Owensboro to provide aid and support to their colleagues with four members of Nazareth College, in Rochester, and two members from Keuka College, in Keuka Park.

The tornado caused extensive damage to the Kentucky campus as well as hundreds of homes in the area. The Hobart and William Smith staff members took generators and chainsaws to help clean up the damage. The group is expected to return by Sunday.
