Raised In Captivity Presented at Hobart and William Smith

January 28, 2000 GENEVA, NY – Nicky Silver's “Raised in Captivity” will be performed at 7 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, February 10 – 12, in the Bartlett Theatre in Coxe Hall on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The performance is directed by Robert F. Gross, professor of English and the director of theatre at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Admission is $5 and free for students.

Because of the mature and somewhat disturbing nature of the play, the performance is suggested for mature audiences only. A New York Times review said, “Raised in Captivity” is about guilt, redemption, and self-punishment, and, against all odds, it is also very funny. The dialogue, which skillfully juxtaposes the banal and the outlandishly whimsical, has the shimmer of an opal.”
