World Cup Women’s Soccer Team Member Comes to HWS

February 10, 2000 Geneva, NY – Saskia Webber, a member of the United States World Cup Soccer Team, will give a motivational speech at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, in Albright Auditorium on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus.

Webber, 28, was the backup goalkeeper of the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup Championship Team, which played in seven matches in 1999 posting a 5-0-1 record. She has been a member of the U.S. National Team since 1990, an alternate for the 1996 Olympic Gold Medal Team, and a member of the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup Team, posting a 4-1 victory over Australia. She was the starting goalkeeper for most of 1993. She is a graduate of Rutgers University.

The event, which is sponsored by the William Smith Athletic Association, is free and the public is welcome to attend. The Athletic Association encourages area youth athletic teams to join them and attend the presentation.
