September 14, 2000 GENEVA, NY – Hubertus Buchstein, a professor of political science at the University of Greifswald in Germany, will give a talk at Hobart and William Smith Colleges titled “What is Reunification? Neo-fascism, Europeanization, and Globalization in the New Germany.” Buchstein's talk will be given at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, in the Sanford Room, of the Warren Hunting Smith Library. The public is invited. The event is free.
Buchstein will discuss German far-righters who have been moving their Internet sites to U.S. access providers in order to evade a German government crackdown. He will also discuss the presence of neo-Nazi sites that are already based in the U.S. and the U.S. racist murder rate?
The discussion is sponsored by Hobart and William Smith Colleges departments of political science, sociology, economic, history, and modern languages. Professor Buchstein will also meet with HWS classes on Friday, September 29.
