October 3, 2000 Geneva, NY -Guitar virtuoso Tim Reynolds launched a national solo acoustic tour this fall-and one of his stops will be at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Reynolds will perform at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, October 27, in Comstock dining room on the HWS campus. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Monday, October 23. They are $10 and may be purchased by calling the Office of Student Life and Leadership at (315) 781-3513.
After having been on VH1's “Storytellers” with Dave Matthews and doing the “Live at Luther College” multi-platinum CD and acoustic tour, Reynolds immediately began a high- powered, raw-energy, electric tour with his band. Reynolds is a master of guitar techniques. Rising above the mere mastery of chops to a virtual state of communion, Reynolds uses the guitar to create harmonic, melodic, and percussive sound.
One of Reynolds' trademarks is his ability for improvisation. “The acoustic guitar is something I've always had reverence for,” Reynolds said. “When I play acoustic, I tend to alternate between intimacy and pounding the hell out of it. It's an awesome instrument-it's like the piano in terms of sounds and dynamics.”
Doors will open at 9 p.m. and specialty coffees and desserts will be served.
