Hobart and William Smith Students Raise Money for Local Charities

October 10, 2000 Geneva, NY – In two separate fund-raising events, the students of Hobart and William Smith Colleges have raised $1,200 for two local charitable organizations.

The five fraternities of Hobart College raised $750 for Habitat for Humanity on September 27. The fraternity brothers raised the money by holding a rocking chair benefit for 16 hours. They received donations from sponsors for each hour they kept their chairs swaying.

The Make A Wish Foundation club at Hobart and William Smith Colleges raised $450 on September 26 by sponsoring a dunking booth where students could purchase balls and try to dunk a professor or coach. The Make a Wish Foundation donations will benefit local children who are chronically ill or dying by helping fulfill their biggest wish.
