Hobart and William Smith Colleges and President Mark Gearan were examples in the story “U.S. accelerates campus recruiting” from the May 21 Democrat and Chronicle. The article describes the six area colleges and hundreds nationally joining a campaign to encourage their students to consider careers with the federal government. According to the article, the presidents of RIT, State University College at Geneseo, Nazareth College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, State University College of Technology at Alfred and Alfred University are among 351 school presidents and five national college groups who have signed onto “A Call to Serve: Leaders in Education Allied for Public Service.” This effort is the work of the Partnership and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The Partnership for Public Service is a nonprofit organization headed by government, corporate and private foundation interests. President Gearan is a member of the Partnership Board of Governors.
