Colleges Name New Director of Annual Giving

Jay Sullivan will lead the Colleges efforts to strengthen annual support and increase participation from alumni and alumnae

September 20, 2002 Geneva, N.Y. – Michael J. Catillaz, vice president for institutional advancement at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, has announced the appointment of Jay Sullivan as Director of Annual Giving and Parent Relations. Sullivan began his duties earlier in September.

Sullivan, a graduate of Clarkson University, brings with him several years of fund raising and alumni relations experience. Most recently he served for two years as Telefund coordinator at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and before that he was assistant director of alumni at SUNY Canton.

The duties of his new position include developing and executing strategies for the growth of the Colleges’ Annual Fund, creating promotional materials, recruiting and training alumni and alumnae volunteers, and managing a support staff.

“Jay’s experience, energy and work ethic make him a valuable addition to our staff,” said Catillaz. “Both the Annual Fund and parent relations are integral to our mission at the Colleges and Jay stands to make important contributions here. We are very pleased to have him join our staff.”

Sullivan replaced Jared Weeden, Hobart Class of ’91, who recently accepted the position of Alumni Director at the Colleges.
