Incoming first-year students will be doing service projects throughout Geneva and the surrounding community as part of their Orientation to the Colleges. Students will sort books to be given to area schools and agencies for the Rural Literacy Outreach projects, do cleaning, painting, yard work, etc. at area churches including Trinity, Zion Lutheran, St. Peter's Episcopal, First United Methodist, and St. Mark's Episcopal (Penn Yan). Some students will clean, paint, and move classrooms at Child and family Resource Center, Geneva A-B Child Development (Rt. 14), RISE Daycare (Geneva St.) Creative Choices (Seneca Falls), and Elizabeth Cady Stanton Children's Center, (Willard). Other students will do environmental cleanup at Seneca Lake State Park, Cemetery Creek, Castle Creek, Pulteney Park, and the Keuka Outlet trail.
Other placements involving cleaning, painting, landscaping, etc. include Happiness House, Geneva Middle school, Smith opera house, Exchange St. and business district, YMCA (painting the gym), Sons of Italy, Border City School, Geneva Theatre Guild (sorting costumes and props, moving sets), American Legion, Seneca Lake Terrace, Washington St. Cemetery, Challenger Baseball field, Center of Concern and Food Pantry, Lakeview Mental Health services, Church Home, Sonnenberg Gardens and Granger Homestead (Canandaigua), Seneca County Habitat House (Seneca Falls), North (Waterloo) and South (Ovid) Seneca Ambulance (waxing rigs, cleaning etc.), Community Manor Home for adults in Interlaken, and closing up the GSA camp south of Auburn.
