Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton plans to introduce legislation to help the Finger Lakes region. She made the announcement at Seneca Lake in Geneva August 29. Sen. Clinton wants to earmark money to promote tourism, as well as provide assistance for farmers and wineries. She says it's key not to think of each lake individually, but rather all of them together as a region. President Mark Gearan was mentioned several times in Sen. Clinton's speech and was part of her meetings with city officials.
Clinton toured Seneca Lake last summer with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and with Gearan. Her recent visit was featured by several local media, including the Daily Messenger, Democrat and Chronicle, Finger Lakes Times, and RNews.
