Colleges Welcome Classes of 2006

President Mark Gearan and Mary Herlihy Gearan greeted the 535 matriculated students who arrived on campus today, August 30, for Orientation. Of these students 30 percent rank in the top tenth of their high school class, and 75 percent in the top third. With these new students 40 states and 17 countries are represented; 42 percent of Colleges students are from New York state, 37 percent are from New England, 15 percent from the Mid-Atlantic states, 3 percent are from the Midwest, 1 percent from the Far West, 1 percent from the Southwest, and 1 percent from the Southeast. Sixty percent of students came from public high schools, 36 percent from private schools, and 4 percent from parochial schools.
