Passavant, Dunn, and Johnson Speak at Rochester Labor Lyceum

Paul Passavant and Kevin Dunn, assistant professors of political science, were the featured speakers for “The Post 9/11 World: Anti-Terrorism and Civil Liberties,” at the Rochester Labor Lyceum on Saturday, September 21. Passavant addressed the tension between individual rights and nationalism, and of the on-going curbing of American civil rights by the present administration. Dunn spoke on how the architects of Bush's unilateralist foreign policy were strengthened by the events of 9/11, but that the trend toward “hegemonism” existed before then. The presentations were followed by a discussion that was moderated by Cedric Kwesi Johnson, also an assistant professor of political science.
