The NCAA Tournament is coming to Geneva this weekend. William Smith College will host the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Regional Championships on Nov. 16 and Nov. 17. Games will be broadcast on WEOS 89.7/90.3 FM.
The Herons (14-3-3) will host the winner of the Nazareth (16-3-1) and Grove City (13-6-2) game on Nov. 16, at 11 a.m., on Cozzens Field, in the first New York Regional Semifinal. Union College (14-5-0) will face off against the winner of the NYU (10-4-4) and Misericordia (19-1-0) match in the other semifinal at 1:30 p.m. The Regional Championship game will be at 1 p.m., on Nov. 17. Ticket prices are $4 for general admission, $2 for senior citizens and students with proper ID, and $1 for children 12 and under. Hobart Student Government and William Smith Congress will pay the admission for students from Hobart or William Smith who attend.
Led by legendary Head Coach Aliceann Wilber, the Herons are making their record 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. In 23 seasons, Wilber has amassed a 301-94-28 career record, and became the first female coach to reach the 300-win plateau when the Herons beat Cortland 1-0. She remains the only woman head coach to lead a DIII soccer team to a national championship (1988).
