Moving Up Day is one of William Smith College’s oldest traditions. Students, alumnae, administrators, and faculty members gather to celebrate the College and the achievements of its women. The afternoon begins with a traditional procession, led by the seniors, who carry a laurel garland and a class banner, followed by the other classes, each of which has its own original banner. The ceremony consists of the presentation of academic and other awards, the sharing of class legacies, the introduction of new student leaders and Hai Timiai members, and the traditional “moving up” of the classes.
