Students in Koshare Dance Collective will present a concert of original choreography at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, and at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Winn Seeley Gym-Theater on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus. Seating is limited; admission is free. Koshare will accept donations at the door to support The Smith Opera House and new bleachers for Winn-Seeley Gym. The concert will run approximately two hours including a 10-minute intermission. On Friday night directly following the concert there will be a reception held in the Heron Hall of Honor, where audience members can talk with participants over refreshments.
Nineteen students–Nazia Ahmad '07 and Tanya Khokhar '06, from Karachi, Pakistan; Sara Allen '04, from Hampden, Maine; Jonis Belu-John '04, from Prince Frederick, Md; Chequira Christie '07, from Corona Queens, N.Y.; Kristen DeBottis '04, from East Syracuse, N.Y.; Marlene Figueroa '05, from Bronx, N.Y.; Elizabeth Figura '05, from Webster, N.Y.; Kristen Johnson '06, from Camillus, N.Y.; Tina Lee '06, from Bayside, N.Y.; Emily Lutin '05, from Hamden, Conn.; Lisa Nelson '05, from Manlius, N.Y.; Whitney Nields '04, from Lyndborough, N.H.; Dereck Norville '06, from Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jessica Skovron '04, from Exeter, N.H.; Danielle Suffredini '05, from Waterloo, N.Y.; Colleen Wahl '06, from Livonia, N.Y.; Josh Warr '05, from Potsdam, N.Y.; and Jessica Zippin '07, from New Hartford, N.Y.–have choreographed 20 solos, duets and group pieces within the genres of modern, jazz, salsa, hip-hop, tap, cultural, ballet and lyrical dance.
Koshare has been an active organization on campus for more than 63 years, providing the Colleges and the Geneva community with live dance performances for the whole family. The entire concert is planned and executed by HWS students. The pieces presented in the concert are choreographed and performed by students, and all the backstage crew work is done by students.
