Community members receive two free admission tickets if they bring two or more non-perishable food items to the game.
(November 6, 2003) GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart Student-Athlete Advisory Council will sponsor a food drive starting at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Boswell Field, where the Hobart Statesmen football team will take on St. John Fisher College.
Fans who bring two or more non-perishable food items will receive two free admission tickets. Soup, stew, canned vegetables, and canned fruit are in great need by area food pantries. Students at Hobart and William Smith, who receive free admission to all games, will be given a Statesmen hat in exchange for donating two or more non-perishable items.
“When the Hobart Student-Athlete Advisory Council learned about the shortage of food at Geneva's food pantries, they wanted to take on that challenge. Along with many of their teammates, the SAAC has worked diligently at planning and publicizing the event, and we look forward to a generous turnout by our fans this Saturday,” said Director of Hobart Athletics Mike Hanna.
All of the food will go to support the Geneva Community Lunch Program and the Center of Concern.
