Augustine ’99 Opposes Iraq War, Will Protest in Washington, D.C.

Jackie Augustine '99 was quoted in the article “Peace activism swells with renewed vigor” from the Oct. 20 Democrat and Chronicle. “There really is a large, and not silent, majority that has reservations about a war,” said Augustine, a Geneva city councilwoman who is coordinating a trip to the Oct. 26 march in Washington, D.C., to protest war in Iraq. “I don’t think we’re going to go down there and George Bush is going to come out of the White House and say, ‘I’ve changed my mind.’ But this is a way to say there are standards to be met for a war and we do care about democracy.” The Colleges' Refuse and Resist! club will also attend the march and protest.
