The William Smith College soccer team advanced to the ECAC Northeast Semifinals with a 3-1 win over Plattsburgh State on Wednesday. The Herons will take on two seed Geneseo State at Nazareth College on Nov. 15, at 1:30 p.m. Admission to the game is $3 for adults and $1 for students with proper ID. The winner moves on to the championship match on Nov. 16, at 1 p.m.
The Herons are looking to avenge the 3-0 loss handed to them by the Knights in the 2003 season opener. Posting its seventh consecutive season with at least 13 wins, William Smith (13-5-2) is led by senior forward Kristin Perrigo with eight goals—seven of which are game-winners—and one assist. Geneseo comes into the game with a 13-3-4 record and is led by senior Logan Hadzicki with 15 goals and seven assists. The Heron defense has been solid, sacrificing just 17 goals in 20 games for a 0.82 goals against average, while the Knights have allowed just 18 goals in 20 contests for a 0.85 goals against average.
