BOSTON–The Hobart College crew team won the collegiate eight division of the Head of the Charles Regatta. The Statesmen covered the three-mile course in a time of 15:18.541, outdistancing 40 other crews to earn their first victory in the event.
Senior Dave Undercoffler (Ithaca/Canandaigua, N.Y.), junior Mike Fazio (Lakeland/Mohegan Lake, N.Y.), sophomores Brandon Currie (Wilsonville/Lake Oswego, Ore.), Mike Hoepp (Choate Rosemary Hall/Bedford, N.H.), Matthew Monbouquette (Moses Brown/Warwick, R.I.), and Vaughn Wascho (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), and first-years Gavin Johnstone-Butcher (St. Paul's School (N.H.)/Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), Gardner Loring (Middlesex/Duxbury, Mass.) and coxswain Daniel Gilbert (Brighton/Rochester, N.Y.) comprised the Hobart eight.
The Statesmen will close out their fall schedule on Oct. 26, in the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia.
