Mike Mattson brings more than a decade of development experience to his new position at HWS
(December 3, 2003) Geneva, N.Y. — Michael J. Catillaz, vice president for institutional advancement at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, has announced the appointment of Michael L. Mattson to the position of assistant vice president for institutional advancement. Mattson joined the Colleges staff on Dec. 1.
In this new role, Mattson is a senior member in the Colleges' advancement area and is responsible for the oversight of both the gift planning and major gifts operations at the Colleges, areas in which he has many years of experience. He will also oversee special projects for which planned and major gifts are essential and will contribute to the overall advancement component at HWS.
“Mike's experience, coupled with his energy and enthusiasm, will be a wonderful addition to our institutional advancement function,” said Catillaz. “I'm confident that Mike's leadership and creativity will enhance our ability to accomplish the many goals we've set for the division.”
Mattson comes to the Colleges from Texas Christian University, where he served for five years as assistant vice chancellor for leadership gifts. Before going to TCU he was director of special gifts at the Wayne State Foundation and director of planned giving at Guilford College. He is currently a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Chadron State College in Nebraska.
