Perkins Speaks in Adirondack Region and Makes Front Page News

Wesley Perkins, professor of sociology, was invited to give a keynote address on “The Social Norms Approach to Substance Abuse Prevention and Health Promotion in Schools and Communities” for the Northern Tier Providers (Chemical Dependency Programs of Northern New York) 5th Annual Conference in Lake Placid, N.Y., on Sept. 26. On the same day he presented a workshop on “Social Norming for Positive Change & Action Planning” for student support staff at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake. Perkins was also a guest speaker that evening at a community forum for administrators, teachers, and community residents of the Saranac Lake Central School District where he spoke on “Social Norms Theory and Its Application in Prevention Work.” His speech received front page news coverage in The Adirondack Daily Enterprise the next day.
