Florence Johnson ’25 Turns 100

Florence Johnson, a member of the William Smith class of 1925, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 27. President Mark Gearan and Kathy Regan, alumnae director, attended a birthday party in her honor and presented her with a cake and presents. Others attending included Carrie James '92 and her husband Perry Grossman, Carol Brotman White '76, Beth Yingling '76, HWS Librarian Bill Crumlish, and Sally Webster '74.

Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in art. She was married to Irvin Johnson who taught English at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and at New York University's Washington Square campus. The two were married for 50 years and three months, said Johnson, according to the Finger Lakes Times article.
