Free admission for HWS students to Hobart hockey game

The Hobart Student Government and William Smith Congress have agreed to cover the admission price for all Hobart and William Smith students to the top-seeded Statesmen’s 2004 ECAC West Semifinal hockey game against fourth-seeded Utica College on March 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Students are encouraged to pick up a complimentary ticket prior to the contest by presenting a valid school ID to April Edminston in office 207A in Bristol Gym. Students also can show their school ID at the ticket gate of the Geneva Recreation Complex for free admission to the contest.

Winning the regular season ECAC West title and top seed in the league tournament for the first time in the program’s history, Hobart is riding a five-game win streak, including its first victory over RIT in 12 years. The Statesmen also are unbeaten in their previous 10 home games, dating back to Nov. 21.

Junior Craig Levey (Mississauga, Ontario) leads the Hobart offense with 16 goals and 16 assists, while sophomore Colby McVey (Chicago, Ill.) has tallied 19 points. Between the pipes junior Adam Lavelle (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been outstanding during the win streak, stopping 92 percent of the shots he faced and giving up just 2.40 goals per game.

The second-seed RIT Tigers will take on third-seed Manhattanville in the first semifinal game on March 5, at 3 p.m. Tickets for both games are $5 for adults and $3 for students with valid ID.

The winners of the semifinal contests will advance to the championship game on March 6, at 7:30 p.m., at the Geneva Recreation Complex.
