Costanza finishes 13th at NCAA Diving Championships

William Smith College sophomore Sarah Costanza finished 13th in the 1-meter diving competition at the 2004 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. She posted a score of 302.85 for 11 dives, earning honorable mention All-American honors, the first Heron diver to do so.

Following her record-breaking rookie year, Costanza has continued her quick rise to the top this season, breaking two more records and capturing a pair of 1-meter titles.

In December, she won the 1-meter competition at the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Championship meet and collected co-Diver of the Meet honors with a third place finish on the 3-meter board.

In the final competition of the regular season, Costanza repeated her 1-meter performance in the New York State Championship meet. She also eclipsed her own school record of 390.96 for 11 dives in the 3-meter board twice. Costanza earned a season-high score of 398.00 in the preliminary round and finished third overall with a score of 391.20.

Costanza owns the William Smith records on both boards for six dives and the 3-meter mark for 11 dives.
