Annual Palmeri Lecture Addresses Forgiveness

Professor from Arizona State University will deliver this year's lecture

(March 19, 2004) GENEVA, N.Y.–The annual Ann Palmeri Memorial Lecture on Philososphy and Feminism will be given this year by Professor Margaret Urban Walker. She will speak on “Forgiveness and Moral Repair” at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 2, in the Fisher Center, Demarest 212.

Walker is the Lincoln Professor of Ethics, Justice, and the Public Sphere in the School of Justice Studies at Arizona State University. During the current academic year she is a Laurance S. Rockefeller Visiting Fellow at the Princeton University Center for Human Values.

Ann Palmeri was a feminist philosopher who taught at Hobart and William Smith in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She died of cancer when she was in her 30s, and has been commemorated with this lecture since then.

The lecture, co-sponsored by the philosophy department, the women's studies program, and the Fisher Center for the Study of Women and Men, is free and open to the public.
