The Hobart Student Government and William Smith Congress present hip hop sensation the Black Eyed Peas in concert, April 14 at the Smith Opera House. General admission tickets are $20 each and go on sale at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, at The Smith.
This multi-ethnic rap crew joined artists such as Black Star, Jurassic 5 and the Roots at the forefront of the cultural and musical renaissance in hip-hop at the end of the 20th century. The manifesto of Will.I.Am, Apl.de.Ap, Taboo is clear – they aim to unite musical communities by serving up radio-friendly tunes while maintaining their hardcore integrity.
With distinct, cuttingly insightful, yet subtle lyrics fed over consistently catchy beats and eclectic arrangements, L.A.’s Black Eyed Peas have earned a high level of respect within the rap world, significant attention at college radio, and even the occasional crossover hit. Their third release “Elephunk” saw the addition of a fourth member – female vocalist Fergie – and the continued elevation of their style and skills, as the group journeys all over the map, never falling into a funk of boredom.
Tickets for the Black Eyed Peas will be available at the Smith box office and by calling 315-781-LIVE (5483) or toll-free 866-355-LIVE (5483). They will be $20 each. Seating is general admission. The Smith accepts MasterCard, Visa and Discover Card.
