Benjamin Foster '95 joins the Colleges' advancement team to manage Reunion campaigns

(April 2, 2004) Geneva, N.Y. — Michael J. Catillaz, vice president for institutional advancement at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, has announced the appointment of Benjamin G. Foster to the position of Director of Reunion Campaigns. He began his new duties on March 29. Benjamin comes to the Colleges from Tufts University where he was the assistant director of the Tufts Fund for Arts Sciences and Engineering and the men's rowing coach.

In this post, Foster is responsible for the oversight of a comprehensive Reunion giving program, including planning, organization, development and execution. He will work closely with colleagues who manage the Fund for Hobart and William Smith.

After his graduation from Hobart in 1995, Foster stayed in Geneva and served as head freshman rowing coach at the Colleges, followed by a two-year stint as rowing coach at Mercyhurst College in Erie Pennsylvania. Moving on to Boston College, where he obtained his master's degree in higher education administration, Foster worked for a year in BC's office of student development and as coordinator of the college's community service program.

“Ben not only has an understanding of the relationship-building skills that the person in this position must possess, he also has a great affinity for his alma mater and the mission of these Colleges,” said Catillaz. “I'm sure he'll be a great asset to the advancement team.”
