Chris Beckman is the featured speaker for Gay Pride Month festivities at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. He will give a talk at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, in Albright Auditorium.
Beckman was bucking for a promotion at a now defunct dot-com in Boston when his friends at his gym persuaded him to audition for MTV's “The Real World.” Beckman ended up as a cast member for the Chicago episodes that explored his life, from recovery from alcoholism and his gay lifestyle to a burgeoning relationship.
Since being featured on MTV, Beckman has been the recipient of the Congressman Gerry E. Studs Visibility Award for being a positive role model in the gay community. In addition to giving college lectures on his experiences he is studying to be an actor.
