The William Smith lacrosse team captured the top seed and the right to host the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament with for the second consecutive season with a pair of victories over the weekend. The Herons will host Union, Hamilton, and Skidmore on May 1-2 on McCooey Field, as the four teams vie for the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Ranked sixth in the nation, William Smith (14-1, 7-1 UCAA) will take on fourth-seeded and 19th-ranked Skidmore (9-4, 5-3 UCAA) in the first semifinal contest on May 1, at 11 a.m. The Herons downed the Thoroughbreds 14-2 during their regular season meeting.
In the second semifinal of the day, second-seeded Union College (11-3, 7-1 UCAA) will go up against third-seeded Hamilton College (10-3, 6-2 UCAA) at 2 p.m. The Dutchwomen triumphed over the Continentals 12-9 earlier in the year.
