DeWayne Lucas, assistant professor of political science, and Hobart senior Nico Howie were quoted in the Nov. 4 Geneva Finger Lakes Times story “FL voters focus on Pataki race”.
Lucas said people will vote this year because of the economy. College students are more likely than other voters to vote because of the possible U.S. military action in Iraq, Lucas said, although he added that he doesn't think the turnout among students will vary much from what is usual.
“War is heavily on the minds of students and people my age,” said Hobart senior Nico Howie, of New York City. Howie, a Democrat, said he plans to vote Tuesday and is concerned that Republicans might take control of the Senate.
